The University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) is again muddled in the controversy of ownership. Experts say that UVCE cannot be made part of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) nor Bengaluru Central University (BCU). A second meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday at the Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC) to discuss about UVCE’s ownership. Since UVCE comes in the geographical vicinity of BCU, officials of the university are claiming their ownership based on the Bangalore University (BU) trifurcation. VTU which is the largest technical university in the State has all engineering colleges under it except UVCE, Manipal University and National Institute of Technology, Surathkal. Unless the State government amends the Act of VTU, no institution can be added or removed from the University.
