Bangalore news highlights: Heavy rain lashed Bangalore on Wednesday and uprooted more than 13 trees in the city. The thundershowers lashed the city for more than an hour in some areas. The city recorded 62 mm rainfall on Wednesday evening. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that rains are likely to continue on Thursday as well.
According to BBMP trees were uprooted in Ulsoor, Jayanagar 4th Block, Wilson Garden, Nagarabhavi, Moodalapalya, Ideal Homes Colony in Rajarajeshwarinagar, Puttenahalli, Bellandur Signal, Mallathahalli, Yelahanka and Byrasandra.
The Bangalore Metro services between Indiranagar and Byappanahalli on the Purple Line were affected between 11.30am and 12pm on Wednesday due to maintenance work on the third rail traction power at Swami Vivekananda Road Station. However, trains operated between Mysuru Road and Indiranagar during the period.
