A bunch of thieves broke into a private school in Varthur during the night and escaped with admission fee from the locker inside the headmaster’s room. The thieves decamped with Rs 1 lakh, disabled the CCTV cameras and also took the tapes and DVR along with them. The headmaster of the school, Chandrashekar TN, has filed a complaint with the Varthur police. The incident took place on May 30 after Chandrashekar locked the cabin and the school around 10.30 pm. Next morning, at around 7.15 am, when the school was reopened, the staff noticed the headmaster’s office had been broken into. “They ransacked the accounts room and took about Rs 1 lakh in fees and a Dell laptop which was kept on the desk. They even disabled the CCTV cameras and took DVR and the tapes along with them,” Chandrashekar said. He added, “Since it’s admission season, we start early and stay till 5.30 pm. We collect all the cash from morning admissions and deposit it in the bank by 3 pm. The money from the admissions done after 3 pm is deposited the next day.” The school authorities immediately alerted the police who rushed to the spot and investigated the scene. The Varthur police have taken up a case and are verifying CCTV cameras from the surrounding areas to identify the accused.
