All three — from neighbouring villages in Madhugiri, Tumakuru — stayed together in Bagalakunte. Nelamangala traffic police said the trio was going to Chetan’s Taggihalli village when the accident occurred at 9.30pm.robe revealed Chetan’s cousin was to get married in Taggihalli on Saturday and Sunday. Chetan and his friends were on their way to Taggihalli to complete the preparations for the marriage of his paternal uncle’s daughter. According to police, Chetan was riding the motorcycle, Punith was in the middle and Sridhar sat at the end. Chetan was about to take a U-turn at Edehalli village, when a speeding tractor (without a number plate) rammed the bike. The tractor driver abandoned the vehicle and took to his heels. He dropped out to support brother’s studies Mohan Kumar, a family friend, said Chetan was in Taggihalli village for a week. “Chetan quit his studies as his family is economically weak. He wanted to earn and ensure that his elder brother, Martuhi, continued his studies. Hence, he joined a private company as a loader, handling goods and distributed newspapers in the morning for extra money,” added Mohan. Chetan was in Taggihalli early last week and left on Friday morning to collect his salary. “He informed us that he would return to village late night and also bring his roommates for the marriage. We were unable to stop the marriage as we had already spent a lot of money and all arrangements were done. So, we have decided to conduct his final rites on Monday, a day after the marriage,” said another relative.
