Mansoor Khan, owner of IMA jewels, has gone missing, shortly after he had allegedly made an audio declaring his intentions of committing suicide. He had called out several government officials, including Shivajinagar MLA Roshan Baig, of accepting bribes of Rs 400 crores. The police are on lookout, checking airports, railway stations and bus stands for his whereabouts. In the audio addressed to the city Police Commissioner, he had said that he has decided to end his life and by the time everyone had heard the audio he would have already committed suicide. He said, “I paid bribes to all the politicians and bureaucrats, including the MLA of Shivajinagar , who denied to return Rs 400 crore when he did not get the ticket. Rowdies started coming to my office and threatened me and my family. I am currently residing in South Bengaluru and by the time you hear this audio, I will be no more.” The police have declared him absconding and suspect that he had made the audio to divert attention. He might have fled the country by now. His phone is also switched off from the past two days. In reaction to the allegations made by Mansoor, Shivajinagar MLA R Roshan Baig issued a statement saying, “It has come to my notice that some fake content is being circulated regarding me and the IMA Group of Companies. I categorically state that I’m not a stakeholder/partner of this company in any way or form. My association with IMA Group is as a legislator and strictly based on the social work that was carried out in my assembly constituency. There are several contractors and private companies who participate in developmental works in my constituency and I am not a part of any of those companies. I profoundly request people and my constituents to not pay attention to fake forwards and to discard any such false information being spread. Let it be known that I’ve initiated necessary steps before the appropriate authorities to initiate legal action against such miscreants.” On Monday, after the audio went viral, a huge crowd gathered outside the IMA jewels showroom in Shivajinagar and started protesting. The police rushed to the spot and put up help desks and started taking complaints from the investors. The Commercial Street police have registered a case and are investigating. One of the investors said that from past two to three months the returns were getting delayed by a few days and they were supposed to receive it on the 10th. The investors were in shock after the audio went viral. They have now started filling complaints as their money is still with the company.
