BENGALURU: Motorists frequenting MG Road and neighbouring areas will have to brace up for traffic diversions in the Central Business District from Saturday. The restrictions are due to Namma Metro taking up construction work on the underground interchange station near the junction of MG Road and Kamaraj Road. Kamaraj Road stretch from Cauvery Emporium junction to its junction with Cubbon Road will be shut for traffic. Parking on MG Road, Brigade Road and nearby stretches will be banned till the work gets over. The interchange hub is expected to be ready by the year 2023.KV Jagadish, deputy commissioner of police (traffic, east), said traffic diversions and parking ban will come into force on Saturday. Traffic police have suggested motorists to use alternative routes. From now on, vehicles coming from Mayo Hall on MG Road cannot turn right at Cauvery Emporium junction. Instead, they will have to move till Anil Kumble Circle and take a right turn into the Central Street and head towards the BRV junction. Also, vehicles coming from Mahatma Gandhi’s statue side on MG Road can’t take left turn at Cauvery Emporium. Instead, they must take left at Anil Kumble Circle and enter Central Street to move towards BRV junction. Vehicles coming from BRV junction can’t take a right turn at Kamaraj Road and Cubbon Road junction to proceed towards MG Road. They will have to move till Manipal Centre on Cubbon Road and take a right turn on Dickenson Road, move towards Webbs Junction before-entering MG Road. ELABORATE TRAFFIC DIVERSIONS ON MG ROAD FROM SATURDAY Saturday onwards, vehicles moving towards Brigade Road and MG Road from Commercial Street can take a right turn at Kamaraj Road and Cubbon Road junction and move on Cubbon Road towards BRV junction to proceed further. Buses have been banned from entering Murphy Road at Anjaneya Temple junction. They must move on the Swamy Vivekananda Road-Ulsoor Police Station-Trinity Circle-Richmond Road corridor.
