BENGALURU: After nearly 18 hours of search, sleuths from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) recovered ornaments worth Rs 33 crore from the Jayanagar showroom of IMA Jewels, an entity of I Monetary Advisory which is being probed for its Ponzi scheme. The operation began on Monday afternoon and ended at 6am on Tuesday. The jewellery was examined by a team of 25 appraisers, sleuths said. According to a press release by SIT, they seized 43kg gold ornaments worth Rs 13 crore, 5884-carat diamonds worth Rs 17.6 crore, salt diamonds valued at Rs 1.5 crore and 520kg of silver jewellery worth Rs 1.5 crore. The press note said SIT sleuths raided the apartment of Tabassam Banu, the third (divorced) wife of IMA founder-owner Mohammed Mansoor Khan at Shivajinagar and recovered 1.5kg gold worth Rs 39 lakh, 1.5kg silver ornaments and Rs two lakh in cash. The team also raided the sixth-floor flat of the private apartment where Khan stayed in SRK Garden, Tilaknagar, and recovered several documents from the house, which is worth Rs 1.2 crore. Cops said they have identified 26 immovable properties, including land, commercial establishments and apartments, owned by Khan. ED officials visit Lady curzon Rd store Six officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday afternoon visited an IMA Jewels showroom located on Lady Curzon Road. They measured the building, clicked pictures and noted down details of Khan’s business. Sources said ED officials will return after SIT sleuths break open the seals of lockers and display units spread across the four floors of the building.
