This alternate road to the Old Airport Road has been patched up with construction debris The Yamalur Main Road, adjacent to Rohan Jharoka Apartments is patched with construction debris, making life difficult for local residents and daily commuters. The road runs parallel to HAL Old Airport Road and connects Yamalur area to Challaghatta. Being a major alternate road to the Old Airport Road, it is of utmost significance. The road also leads to key establishments like the National Aerospace Laboratories and some military bases. For a year now, in addition to water-logging caused by the debris, there is also the overflowing drains, leaving the road absolutely non-commutable when it rains. “Vehicles, especially scooters get stranded on this road, every time it rains. There are no proper spillways for the water to pass through. A well thought out solution is needed to contain water or channelise it to the nearby Bellandur Lake and not allowing it to clog on the roads”, says Suguna, a daily commuter. “It is a narrow road and to top it the authorities have used construction debris to fill-up the potholes. This has been the state of the road for over a year. This has resulted badly on the traffic in the area. I see vehicles stand in long, unending queues during peak hours,” said Jaganathan, an airport security guard. A well thought out solution is needed to contain the water or channelise it to the nearby Bellandur Lake –Suguna, commuter Apart from the debris, garbage is regularly dumped on the sides of the road and nobody seems to mind. “I frequently use this road to avoid the already crowded HAL Old Airport Road, but the situation on this road is not different. And when it rains, you are likely to spend over an hour on this road,” says Sairam, a daily commuter.
