BENGALURU: A 40-year-old private factory employee succumbed to injuries he sustained after falling from his bike while trying to avoid hitting a pedestrian on Tumakuru Road near Thonachinakuppe village recently. Nelamagala traffic police said Muniraju, a resident of Thorepalya village near Nelamangala and an employee with a factory on Thyamagondlu Road, was returning home from work when the fatal accident happened at 7.30pm on June 14. A transgender was waiting to cross the road. Muniraju swerved to the right to avoid hitting her, but still brushed against her before falling off the bike. He sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was later taken to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Mathikere. Muniraju breathed his last on June 21. Kempegowda, a cousin of Muniraju has filed a case. Nelamangala traffic police found a CCTV footage from a shop near the accident spot. According to police, the images show that a transgender waiting to cross the road led to the accident. Nelamangala traffic police confirmed that it was a clear case of accident and that Muniraju succumbed to injuries sustained in the mishap. Kempegowda, however, claims a bulldozer was partially blocking the CCTV. “The CCTV shows Muniraju’s bike graze against the transgender, but after that the vision is blocked. They might have fallen on the road. However, the CCTV was unable to capture those images as a bulldozer blocked the view. We aren’t sure if some transgenders assaulted Muniraj at the spot,” said Kempegowda, adding his family is waiting for the postmortem report to know if he sustained injuries in the accident or someone assaulted him soon after
